Huzzah

Earlier today I finished my last essay at university for the foreseeable future, these precious hands of mine will now have more time too focus on the important things in life. Like drawing, typing out blog posts, and generally more thumb twiddling.

current animation doodles

rough charcoal drawings of the animation i'm currently working on for uni.
Just started to draw instead of thinking about any specifics, or using any references for that matter, the first time in a long time for me.
I've always liked working with charcoal for some reason.  I think it's the physicality of it, moving it around on the paper with my hands.  Even if it does get everywhere.

will show the process of the animation more than i have in the past.  And who knows, may even upload the finished product too.  As well as the last one.

Animation 1

These works were used as still's for my first foray into animation for Uni.
Done with uni pen fine liner's in cafe's, on trains and places where strangers can admire the skills that i'm oh so humble about.
(I actually had a deadline of sorts so I was drawing in anyplace i could)

If i figure it out i'll post the animation itself at a later date.

Sonny Rollins

This work was another experiment type work, a cut out of grey paper.
I was trying to move into a more broad colour palette while at the same time minimising the detail, pretty much for shits and giggles. but does look nice.

White on Black

These two works are from first semester of this year,
was experimenting with cross hatching and materials i guess you could say.
1st one off is white ink on black paper, meant to be Ava Gardner from 'the killers', 1946, didn't end up really looking like her but am quite happy with the nose in the end.

The 2nd is a still from Memento, and done with white out on black paper.
